Tiburon Fire District would like to thank all who supported 2022 Chipper Days by bringing their vegetation cuttings to the events. We saw great success with 1,620 yards/635.6 tons of vegetation removed from the peninsula!
Feedback from a few of this year’s participants:
- “It’s a great service that has greatly helped us improve the fire safety of our property”
- “Took about 120 cubic feet to (sic) pine needles and oak leaves every chipper day”
- “Definitely will return”
- “We just moved back to the area and thought this was a wonderful event we will plan yard cleaning up around Chipper Days next year”
- “We would love to have more Chipper Days throughout the year”
In an effort to meet the Marin County Community Wildfire Preparedness Plan’s goal to remove overgrowth and create Defensible Space for residents of the Peninsula, these events serve to continue to make our area better protected against wildfire.
The expected dates for 2023 will always be the second (2nd) Saturday of the month and are as follows:

All Tiburon and Belvedere residents can drive their vegetation cuttings and “slash” to be piled for chipper removal courtesy of Tiburon Fire Prevention Staff & Town of Tiburon Public Works equipment. Vehicles are to dump the cuttings in the assigned area with direction from staff and only need to indicate the address from where the cut vegetation was removed. This information is used to track compliance efforts and target tonnage removal.
For more information on this event, residents can call (415) 435-7202 or to learn more about Defensible Space, go to Tiburon Fire District Vegetation Management Program or click on the Prevention drop down menu tab on the homepage to find the Vegetation Management Program page.
